Dollar General Recalls Coffee Product Due to Potential Glass Contamination
Discount retail giant Dollar General announced a voluntary nationwide recall of three lots of its private-label instant coffee products due to potential glass contamination.
The recall affects 8-ounce containers of the Clover Valley brand of instant coffee, each with “best by” dates of 12/13/2026. The products were sold exclusively in Dollar General stores in the lower 48 U.S. states (Alaska and Hawaii excluded) between July 9-21 of this year.
In a recall announcement posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Tennessee-based Dollar General said the recall was initiated after a customer notified employees about the potential issue.
“Ingesting glass fragments may cause injury to the consumer, and these injuries may include damage to teeth, laceration of the mouth and throat, or perforation of the intestine,” the announcement states.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date in connection with the recalled coffee products.
The Clover Valley brand spans hundreds of food and beverage product types within Dollar General stores. It is one of numerous private-label brands within Dollar General’s private-label brand portfolio, alongside Heartland Farms for pet supplies and Studio Selection for personal care products, among others.
The recall announcement did not identify the specific manufacturer of the recalled Clover Valley soluble coffee product.
