Multinational green coffee company Sucafina is expanding its footprint in Europe with the launch of a new trading office in Germany, the region’s largest coffee-consuming country by volume.
Slated to open in Bremen in January 2026, the new entity called Sucafina Germany marks the company’s first full-scale operation in the country, continuing Sucafina’s broader strategy of global growth.
“Establishing a dedicated legal entity in Germany underscores our long-term commitment to the country and the key role it plays in the global coffee industry,” Jordan Hooper, the head of green coffee trading at Sucafina, said in a company announcement today. “We’re excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to deepening our relationships with our suppliers and clients. We can’t wait to get started.”
The Sucafina group, based in Switzerland, currently owns more than 20 subsidiaries operating throughout the coffee chain, with a particular focus on importing, exporting and trading activities. Sucafina’s North American business, established in 2017, currently boasts three United States offices: Brooklyn, New York; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Seattle.
Sucafina Germany will be led by coffee trading veterans Bastian Fülles and Tobias Schwind, who bring more than 30 years of combined industry experience to the office. According to the company, the new team will provide localized service tailored to the needs of the German market, while drawing on Sucafina’s global sourcing network and supply chain capabilities.
Germany is Europe’s largest importer of green coffee, as well as a European hub for coffee re-export and value-added processing. Bremen, in particular, has a long history as a port city for coffee.
The launch of Sucafina Germany follows a series of expansions by the company, both in coffee-consuming and coffee-producing countries. In April 2024, Sucafina launched Sucafina Guatemala. In recent years, the company has also launched operational entities in New Zealand, Indonesia and China’s Yunnan Province.
The group, which dates back to 1905, has also expanded through acquisitions, including those of UK importer Complete Coffee Ltd in 2021, and United States-based Sustainable Harvest in 2023.
Sucafina says it now employs more than 1,500 people across 44 countries.
